The Leadership Academy

2019 Course Info Coming Soon

The Leadership Academy was birthed from a desire to see people equipped and activated to step into the call of God on their lives in whatever sphere of influence God gave them - with both the confidence of a leader and the humility of a servant.

The Christian life is not about how much we know.  It is all about Who we know and Who we belong to.  And as we gain an understanding of God's heart for humanity, we can’t help but give our lives for the cause of Christ - and so we embark on the adventure of a lifetime!

In a world that desperately needs a revolution of justice, faith and love, The Leadership Academy stands as a significant doorway for your growth and the expansion of the local church... and watch what God will do in a life fully submitted to Him.

1. Who are The Leadership Academy trainers?

At The Academy, our trainers bring the best combination of real-world experience and education.

Goodlife Church Lead Pastors Dave and Rebecca Connett each bring to the table 20 years of ministry & leadership experience, ranging from youth and young adult ministries, Red Frogs, creative arts, families and women’s ministries right through to the roles of Executive and Senior Pastors.

Both Dave and Rebecca completed their ministry training at Citipointe School of Ministries, receiving a Diploma of Ministry.  Dave also has a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care and Rebecca has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland, NZ.

Other trainers include:  Ps Ben Perren, with over 10 years experience in building teams and developing leaders - not Location Pastor at Goodlife Forster-Tuncurry; Ps Stefanie Salvini, Assisstant to Pastor Dave and Bec, and Youth & YA Pastor at Goodlife Maitland; and Ps Rebekah Lalor, pastor of Goodlife’s Toronto church plant and an incredibly gifted teacher.

Academy students are also privileged to receive exclusive opportunities with guest ministry from across the globe, such as Dave Gilpin, Ross & Kathy Abraham, Sam & Karolina Gunsser, and many more.  Specific time is given to Academy students for Q&A sessions, guest lectures, and the chance to glean wisdom from 21st century church leaders who are building city-shaking churches.

2. Will my qualification be recognised across Australia?

Yes!!  All our courses are Australian Government accredited courses and the qualifications are recognised among Christian ministries and churches across Australia.   For complete Course Outlines for our Certificate and Diploma courses simply follow the link above.

All our training is conducted under the auspices of Unity College Australia (RTO Provider 6330) and we are audited to ensure quality training is provided.  Student Allowances are available for fee-paying full-time students who meet Centrelink’s eligibility criteria.

3. What does “full-time” study mean?

To meet the requirements of accredited training, we must ensure students have the required amount of face-to-face class time for each subject.  We won’t bore you with all the details, but basically a full-time Academy student can expect to be in class 2 days per week.  In addition to this, there will be requirements such as assignments, reading, and field experience, to be done in the student’s own time.

The strength of The Leadership Academy is that it is so much more than head-knowledge.  An integral part of the course involves serving within the House of God - your local church - which not only blesses your church and stretches you both personally and spiritually, it also changes lives!  This ministry component is not restricted by a schedule - it may be outworked over the week, the weekend, Friday nights, Sundays etc, depending on the area of ministry you are passionate about.

What this means is that your “full-time” study actually allows you great flexibility in terms of work hours and family commitments.  We really have sought to make The Academy accessible to all.
